Remember Me

Funny how God will draw attention to a verse that you’ve just read in your daily devotions and you think “Oh, that was really neat. I should write that down and think about it for later” and then a few days later you come across another verse that correlates with the first one but they’re in completely different sections of the Bible and seem to be unrelated whatsoever.
Nothing happens by chance.
God’s word is divine and perfect. He wrote it to be a story where everything comes together and makes perfect sense.

Luke 23:42-43 is during Christ’s crucifixion.
Both of the criminals hanging on either side of Jesus were talking to Him.
One was mocking Him by taunting Him and telling Him to save Himself…if He is so great.
The other rebuked the first and asked if he feared God since they were being judged according to the laws that God had made in the beginning of the world.

“Then he said to Jesus,
‘Lord, remember me when you come into Your kingdom.’
And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you,
today you will be with me in Paradise.'”

What a promise!
The criminal was being judged for his wrongdoing..but his repentance brought him eternal life.

The correlation between this first one and my second verse is this..that God does promise a time after death on earth.

But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day;
For surely there is a hereafter, And your hope will not be cut off.”
Proverbs 23:17b-18

We have a choice. It’s a simple one.

Do we have a hope in Jesus Christ?
Or..
Do we not?
It’s as simple as being repentant and asking the Lord to remember you..like the criminal.

Some of God’s beautiful creation! But just a taste of what will be in Heaven.

  1. I love it when God uses a few different verses on a few different days to draw my attention to something.

“Salvation, Salvation, vast, full and free….” reminds me of that hymn.

I like the new look of your blog too. 🙂

  2. It is remarkable, and reassuring, that eternal life is so easily won and so freely given.

Is that St Mary’s lake in Glacier Park? It looks like it. Then again you go enough places and they all start to look alike…:)
